As we settle into the 2026/2027 school year, we want to share a recap of our June AGM — plus celebrate something years in the making: our field finally has grass!

Field Update

The biggest news to come out of the AGM: our field remediation project was moving forward, with RubbaGrass Grass Protection Mats on order and volunteers lined up to help install them.

Thanks to a huge community effort, the mats went down and the grass has been growing all summer!!!

A Huge Thank You

None of this would have happened without an incredible team effort.

Thank you to:

  • The PAC members and executives, past and present, who spent years fundraising, applying for grants, and keeping this project alive

  • The parent volunteers who rolled up their sleeves and put in serious elbow grease laying the mats at the end of the school year

  • The families who kept showing up throughout the summer to check on the grass, keep it watered, and make sure the irrigation system was working

  • The kids who cheered the whole project on and are already loving the real grass this fall

This was a true community effort, with kids, parents, and families all pitching in to make it happen.

New PAC Chair

At the AGM, John Dutton was elected as our new PAC Chair for 2026/2027.

A big thank you to outgoing Chair Martine Diamond for her energy and leadership the last few years, and for committing to a smooth transition.

Treasurer Geoff Gibbs will also continue in his role. He expressed the goal of working on a clearer system for tracking PAC finances going forward.

Rosalia Rivera will continue on as secretary and we continue to seek nominations for DPAC (District PAC) representative. The DPAC role responsabilities are to attend each monthly DPAC meeting (always virtual) and report back from that meeting at our monthly Wildflower meeting. If you're interested in the DPAC rep role, please come to our September 29th virtual meeting.

Year in Review Highlights

A few other notes from the AGM:

  • The Year-End BBQ was a great success

  • Funding was approved for the September Welcome Tea and support for the year-end play

  • Swim lessons ran with all 30 spots filled, and the program will be reassessed for next year based on family feedback

A Fresh Start This Year

We're excited for the kids to enjoy the new field, and for a fresh format for our PAC meetings.

This fall, meetings have moved online and shifted to evenings, held the last Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm, instead of our usual 3:00 pm in-person format.

Our first meeting of the new school year is:

Tuesday, September 29th at 7:00 pm

We'd love to see you there. Here's to a great year ahead on our brand new field!
